Feel every bump, or notice a change in steering?
Excessive bouncing, swaying through turns, harder steering and uneven tire wear are useful reasons to arrange an evaluation. These symptoms can have more than one cause; they do not automatically mean a particular part or an alignment is needed.
What steering and suspension work covers
- Evaluation of shocks, springs and struts for wear, leaks or damage.
- Checking changes in bounce, sway and tire-wear patterns.
- Replacement of worn or damaged steering and suspension components.
- Related front-end work, including tie rods and ball joints.
The steering and suspension systems affect road holding, handling and ride comfort. Tell the shop about changes in all three, including noises over bumps or when turning.
Alignment is a separate service.
Kirkpatrick’s does not perform wheel alignments. The shop repairs related components and can discuss a referral when alignment is needed. See alignment-related repairs for the distinction.

Questions about handling concerns
Does pulling to one side mean I only need an alignment?
Pulling or uneven tire wear does not establish the cause on its own. Describe the concern so related tires, steering or suspension issues can be considered. Alignment work is performed elsewhere.
Should I request shocks or struts?
Start with what the car is doing. An evaluation helps establish whether those components or something else need attention before parts are chosen.
