Maintenance on your vehicle’s schedule.
Every vehicle has its own maintenance schedule, set by the manufacturer and your mileage. Bring your owner’s manual or service records, and the shop works from the schedule for the vehicle you drive.
What maintenance covers
- Engine oil and filter service.
- Coolant service.
- Transmission fluid service.
- Other fluid service your vehicle’s maintenance schedule calls for.
- Belts and hoses, including checking the service history for scheduled replacement.
Have the useful details ready.
- Year, make, model, engine and mileage.
- When each service was last done, if you know.
- Any leaks, warning lights or changes you’ve noticed.
If something seems wrong, such as a leak, a warning light or a change in how the vehicle runs, mention it when booking rather than assuming routine service will cover it. Additional work is charged separately, and you review the work and charges before authorizing it.
Questions about maintenance
How often does my vehicle need service?
It depends on the vehicle, the manufacturer’s schedule and how you drive. Bring your mileage and records, and the shop will go by your vehicle’s schedule.
Can I combine maintenance with my state inspection?
Yes. Tell the shop you need both when you call. See Maine state inspections.
Why each fluid matters
- Engine oil keeps moving parts from wearing.
- Coolant keeps the engine at temperature, protects against freezing and runs the heater.
- Transmission fluid keeps shifts smooth and the transmission cool.
- Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which can affect braking.
- Power steering fluid keeps steering easy on vehicles that use it.
Many owner’s manuals list a “severe service” schedule for cold climates, short trips and plowing or hauling. A lot of Maine driving fits it.
How a visit works
- Call 207-622-1557 or request a callback. Tell the shop the year, make and model, and what you’ve noticed.
- Bring the vehicle to 82 Cony Road at the time you arrange, or use the night drop: put your key in an envelope and drop it in the slot.
- The shop looks at the concern and contacts you with what it found and the proposed work and charges.
- You decide. Work starts once you authorize it.
- Pick up at the Cony Road shop, Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
