Rough idle, less power or overheating?
A change in how your engine runs can interrupt your day and leave you unsure what repair to ask for. Tell us when the problem happens: at startup, at idle, under acceleration or after the engine warms up. Kirkpatrick’s handles engine diagnostics and repair in Augusta.
Find the cause before choosing parts.
A warning light or symptom can have more than one cause. Diagnosis helps establish what needs attention before a repair is chosen. Bring any fault-code information and recent repair history; a code alone does not identify every cause or establish a repair price.
Engine services at Kirkpatrick’s
- Engine diagnosis and repair for rough running, warning lights and changes in power.
- Cooling-system concerns, coolant service, and water or fuel pump work.
- Belts and hoses, including checking the service history for scheduled replacement.
- Starting and charging concerns, including batteries, starters and alternators.
For starting or charging problems, see electrical service. For a warning light, see check engine light diagnostics. Tell us the vehicle and symptoms when you call to arrange service.
Use the maintenance schedule for your engine.
The oil specification and maintenance intervals should match your vehicle’s manufacturer guidance and service history. Ask about overdue maintenance rather than applying one oil weight or replacement interval to every vehicle.
Plan your visit.
We work on domestic and foreign vehicles. Tell us the year, make, model, mileage and concern so we can plan the work and arrange your appointment.

Questions about engine work
Can you quote the repair over the phone?
Describe the vehicle and symptoms first. Some work can be discussed by phone, but a repair estimate may depend on an evaluation. Diagnostic work is charged at the shop’s hourly rate in 15-minute increments. Repairs are separate.
